Genesis & Organisation

Built as its
own thing

newOrigin was founded in Pune to build machines for ground that was never designed for them. Independent, hardware-first, engineering-led.

01. Genesis

Three reasons
it exists

We did not start a robotics company to make video demos. We started it because there is critical work in terrain where wheels fail.

G-01

Ground that defeats wheels

Over 70% of earth's landmass has no asphalt. Disasters, borders, mines, and forests require legged mobility that adapts to unmodelled surfaces in real time.

G-02

Runtime as foundation

Every robot needs balance, SLAM, sensor ingestion, and actuator drivers. By building APEX as a unified runtime, all our platforms share one hardened code base.

G-03

Capital discipline

Building real robotics requires focused execution, rapid field iterations, and direct customer deployment over bloated research labs.

02. Facts

The bare facts

No corporate fluff. Who we are and how we operate.

HeadquartersPune, Maharashtra, India (R&D Lab and Assembly Facility)
Founding Year2026
Core FocusLegged locomotion, aerial systems, edge autonomy runtime
Intellectual PropertyActuator inverters, morphing sole mechanisms, APEX 200 Hz MPC kernel
Supply ChainPrecision machining, composite layups, and motor winding integrated regionally
03. Organisation

Who does what

Organized into three tightly coupled engineering disciplines with zero middle management.

Controls & Motion

Nonlinear MPC formulation, trajectory optimization, whole-body balance kernels, and gait adaptation controllers.

Actuation & Hardware

SEA spring tuning, planetary gearbox design, CFRP chassis layups, and thermal management architectures.

Intelligence & APEX

Edge model quantization, visual-inertial odometry pipelines, ROS 2 real-time drivers, and swarm task orchestration.

04. Roadmap

Three phases
to 2028

From single demo units to multi-platform commercial fleet orchestration.
